A new Barnsley Children and Young People’s Plan (2016-19) sets out Barnsley Council’s overall vision for improving the range of outcomes for children and young people.
The plan outlines how the council and its partners, who form the Barnsley Children and Young People’s Trust, will strive to improve the health and wellbeing of all children and young people.
This will include ensuring they are kept safe from harm; are able to enjoy their journey towards adulthood and are equipped with the qualifications and skills that will enable them to play a full part in the future economic and social prosperity of the borough.
It will be based on giving children and young people a good start, including through early help or intervention and further targeted support, where needed.
Cllr Margaret Bruff, Cabinet Spokesperson for People (Safeguarding) said: Although there is no longer a statutory requirement to publish such a plan, by listening to and engaging partners, including front line professionals and service users, everyone has expressed firm support for the production of a Barnsley Children and Young People’s Plan.
“It will act as the framework for all of the Trust’s policies and strategies and as a symbol of the council’s ongoing commitment to children, young people and families in the borough.”
