Engaging the Community.
“Come and join us to celebrate Rotherham” – that is the message from one of the town’s sergeants ahead of a season of summer events.
Over the coming weeks, a number of festivals, parades and fairs are taking place across the borough which Rotherham Central local policing team is throwing its support behind.
Sgt Dave Struggles said the events were a great showcase of all the positive things in Rotherham and he encouraged people of all ages to get involved.
“These events are a fantastic opportunity to support the town and to see what great facilities the villages and the town centre have to offer,” he said.
“We are aware of the recent survey that found that young people did not feel safe in Rotherham town centre and we take these fears very seriously.
“We will continue to work hard to provide reassurance and share the work we are doing in a bid to increase confidence and show that Rotherham is a safe and enjoyable place to live.
“Our officers and Specials will be supporting the events and will be on hand to provide crime prevention advice and community safety messages.”
Upcoming events in the town include:
The Fake Festival at Clifton Park from 12.30pm on Saturday 18 June
Armed Forces Day Parade through All Saints Square on Saturday 25 June
Whiston Festival of Brass on Saturday 2 July
Eastwood Fun Fest on Saturday 9 July
Rotherham Pride at Clifton Park on Saturday 16 July
