Would you like to take a look behind the scenes at the award-winning facility which is revolutionising the way we deal with leftover household waste in Barnsley, Doncaster and Rotherham?

The Manvers facility is a partnership between BDR (Barnsley, Doncaster and Rotherham councils) and 3SE, a consortium of Shanks and Scottish and Southern Energy.

A number of tours of the waste treatment plant at Manvers are being organised to show members of the public what happens to the quarter of a million tonnes of waste they throw away each year. Instead of being sent to landfill, it is processed and turned into useful resources including low carbon electricity.

Tours are available on the following dates:

Saturday 18 February 2017, 10am - 12noon

Saturday 18 February 2017, 2pm - 4pm

Saturday 18 February 2017, 6pm - 8pm

Monday 9 October 2017, 10am - 12noon

Monday 9 October 2017, 2pm - 4pm

Monday 9 October 2017, 6pm - 8pm

Each visit is limited to 12 people and spaces will be awarded on a first come, first served basis.

You will need to provide the following information: name, contact number, shoe size, and jacket size (M, L, XL, XXL).

If you would like to book a space on any of these sessions please contact Shanks' Community Education Liaison Officer, Abi Cox.
